Some stupid Rant!

Mother tongue : This is one of the columns you have to fill in most of the major forms in your life. I’ve never quite been very good at my mother tongue as I grew up in a different state with different language. I’ve never had a problem with it when at home but when I speak to a native speaker, I feel my command on the language or rather the lack of it. One reason I never identify myself with my mother tongue unless necessary. To me, mother tongue is more like the language in which you speak to yourself, the language you think in, the language you translate everything you hear so that you can relate to it and understand better which brings to the burning question inside me these days, WHY ON EARTH AM I SPEAKING TO MYSELF IN ENGLISH? Freaked me out the day I realized this. I looked around and it didn’t feel odd. Freaked me out even more.

There was a time when tamil font looked like home and english looked alien to me, now, thanks to text messaging, tamil font in english looks like home and tamil in tamil looks weird. We live in a generation who can read tamil written in english font faster than tamil written in tamil. The first time I went into my company and expected everyone to speak in english. Now I feel stupid about it. Speak in the language both of you can understand, that should be fine as long as you don’t make a fool of yourself speaking english to the client, in that case you may speak english at work to refine it. The obsession with english has grown into people so much that little kids speak to their parents in english. I mean, I can’t speak to my parents in english without feeling super weird about it and I’m happy that way. I don’t ever want to speak to them in english. English is for my job and it should stay there unless necessary. Your language is the one you are comfortable with and you speak your heart in it and slowly english is taking that spot. I don’t know guys, It doesn’t have that ring to it when it comes to personal things.

Na unna kadhalikaren sounds way cooler than I love you 😛 just saying.
Note to self: Mavane, inime english la yosika kudadhu. (Translation: Bugger, don’t ever think in english from now on) ( I’m too lazy to type it in tamil font but you get the picture right? )

Ps: Maha janangale, nalla english pesuna kuda paravalle, thayavu senju pesanungaradukkaga english ah pesi uyira vaangadeenga. Please.

Translation of the above on request from Sreekar: ( Dear people, I don’t mind if you speak proper english, please don’t speak english for the heck of it )

3 idiots..

My hindi is not so good..actually very bad..then why did i watch 3 idiots?? its all because of Chetan Bhagat. I’m a big fan of his five point someone and when i heard this movie was inspired from tat, i made up my mind to watch it..a movie made of a book generally is close to crap..except for the lord of the rings series n other few..but this movie never disappointed and was better than the story in a few places..but with a hell lotta changes..everything was perfect from the opening till the end..i thought how ll it be to see aamir as a college student..but then being a perfectionist, he found the answer..cast everyone who looked older than him.. 😉 even kareena..(she looks a lot older than aamir) his introduction scene was hilarious and he held tat charisma till the end..apart from the 3 idiots, the character ‘silencer’ deserves a special mention..he was great..the whole movie was a laughter riot.. u cant stop laughin..tat too the teacher’s day scene and the scene in climax where two of em throw the keys at the same time..i cant spill out the suspense.. 😉 the way they showed raju s family as in a black and white movie added up to the already good camera work..give me some sunshine song was awesome.. ( i didn understand the other songs 😉 still music was good)  overall a great movie..worth the watch..they say the one who laughs last didn understand the joke..tat happened to me a few times..still i laughed my *** off..shows how good the movie is..to say in a single line, ALL IZZ WELL..

a land of 1000 movies..

yeah, m talkin bout my country India..we hav a lotta woods here to make movies..( vry less to make oxygen though.. :( ) there is kollywood, tollywood, malluwood (?), the dominant bollywood and other smaller ones like bhojpuri etc..we ve been making movies for more than 75 yrs and with the exception of a few here and there we can categorize all the movies under one topic..seasonal cliche ( i dunno how to type that end e with a horn with my keyboard..but i know u get the picture.. ) i hav a few doubts bout all the movies..i’m asking it here so that someone would answer me..
first of all, wats with the “wood” in the name?..thr is one place called hollywood where they make english movies, that doesn’t mean all shud end with a wood..
my second question is whats with the seasonal stories?? if one movie is declared a hit a dozen other movies follow suit with the same theme and a small change in script..ah, come on if u wanna copy, copy ur own script..make a sequel of ur own movie..part2 works most of the time, if not take a part3.. 😉
next is, why shud the hero always win?? even if he is a bad guy and kill a dozen people..also tat if one guy in a hero s family dies, its shown as somethin huge and the hero goes to the villian’s lair and challenges him..while doin so he kills a lot of thugs..do they don hav family?? what bout them?? why are the movies always around one guy who is just another normal guy but beats up ten ppl with a single movement..the funny part is a hero worked out and showed six pack abs in a movie which hardly had fight scenes.. 😉 i say, if u wanna show a hero beat up everyone make him a superhero..we audience ll accept that..
last question..why is it, if a movie is declared hit in one language, it s remade in another language again with the same dialogus and the same scenes..the original with a subtitle hav pretty much done the job i guess.. :)
anyways thats the way it works and if any1 readin this post knew the anwers for what i asked, do reply cuz there are a whole lot like me with the same thing in mind..
